Autoglass® opens new centre in Derby

Autoglass®, the UK’s leading vehicle glass repair, replacement and recalibration company, has opened a new centre in Derby as the business returns to full service with a series of new safety measures in place across the entire network to ensure the protection of customers and employees.

The centre, located within the Morrisons car park on Wheatcroft Way, offers a convenient service for customers in Derby. It provides windscreen repair and replacements, advanced safety system recalibrations and replacement wiper blades.

The new opening in Derby is part of the company’s strategy aimed at meeting the growing needs of vehicles fitted with advanced safety systems. Advanced safety features such as autonomous emergency braking and lane departure warnings are increasingly common and play an important role in alerting drivers to potential hazards on the road. However, as these systems are often reliant on cameras and sensors mounted on the windscreen, they need to be accurately recalibrated following a windscreen replacement, as per vehicle manufacturer instructions, to ensure they are detecting upcoming obstacles correctly.

The rapid growth of these technologies, some of which require recalibration in a controlled workshop location, has grown dramatically in recent years. According to Euro NCAP data, by the end of 2020 nearly 40% of UK vehicles are set to feature advanced safety features.

All centres across the UK, including the new centre in Derby, are open and offer a fully contactless service and social distancing. Autoglass® has also enhanced its cleaning procedures in response to the current coronavirus pandemic. This includes the introduction of ‘Touchpoint Sanitisation’, an additional mandatory series of safety steps which will be carried out during all appointments. Technicians at Autoglass® will decontaminate up to 46 individual touchpoints on a vehicle both before and after completing the work, including disinfecting door handles and steering wheels. The process uses a disinfectant that has been British lab tested to kill and protect against 99.99% of viruses and bacteria, including coronaviruses and noroviruses. †

Taxiarchis Konstantopoulos, Managing Director at Autoglass® says:

As lockdown restrictions are lifted and drivers return to the roads, Autoglass® is committed to educating drivers about the important role that advanced safety features play in keeping motorists safe. Despite a dramatic increase in the number of vehicles fitted with these systems, awareness of their importance remains low, and as the industry leader Autoglass® has a crucial role to play to ensure that drivers are as safe as possible on the road. Our latest opening in Derby demonstrates our ongoing investment into road safety and we look forward to bringing our excellent service to the local community.

“At Autoglass®, safety has always been our number one priority and during the current crisis this is more important than ever. Whilst we continue to work to keep drivers safe on the roads, we have adapted our ways of working to ensure we are able to provide a contactless service, maintain social distancing and provide additional sanitisation as we strive to protect the health of both our customers and colleagues”.

Our disinfectant is effective against all enveloped viruses as defined in EN 14476:2013 + A2:2019, and includes coronaviruses.
